Welcome!
We are a Community of Jesus Followers
As an eclectic family saved from our brokenness and addictions by sheer grace, we strive to follow Jesus by loving God, loving each other in the Spirit, & leading others to Jesus.
Located in the heart of downtown Sequim, we attempt to proclaim the Gospel by seeking to self-sacrificially serve and bless our city. Beginning with gathering to worship Jesus in hearing Him as His Word goes out in power, and responding together in worshipful service.
Whether you've never stepped foot in a church before, or have been a church member for several decades, we want you to know you are welcome here, and hope that you have an opportunity to experience the love of Jesus, today, in a real way.
SUNDAY Worship SERVICE: 10aM
Located at: 138 W. Washington St. Sequim, WA 98382 (upstairs)
What to expect:
TEACHING:
We worship God through the teaching and preaching of His word. We strive to remain biblically and doctrinally accurate while seeking to apply the truth of the bible to our lives and in our community, and dedicate a significant portion of our service to the Word.
MUSIC
We believe in singing together, as a church family, to God. This congregational act of musical worship is one way in which we unite together to joyfully express praise and adoration in the presence of our Savior.
FELLOWSHIP
The Kingdom of God is based on relationships, and as a church, we deeply value community. Before and after service, you'll find people milling about over coffee and having conversations. Please feel welcome to grab a cup of coffee & introduce yourself!
PRAYER
We earnestly believe in the power of corporate prayer, and pray throughout our services. We also have an open invitation after every service for anyone who needs personal prayer from our leaders.
Our Church Leadership:
Senior pastor: DAVID ISAAC RIVERS
An alumni of Berklee College of Music, David has been at Calvary since 2008, and led worship steadily since 2012. A bumbling husband to his wife, Danielle, loving father of a new baby boy, Oliver, a dabbling hymn writer, cooker of ramen, lover of folk music, and blessed by a rich group of friends, David yearns that those who do not know Jesus would meet Him personally, and experience the joyous love of God.
Children’s Ministry: Kelly IRIYE
Elder: Micah Iriye
Driven and with an infectious happy-go-lucky attitude, Kelly is always ready to serve the Lord, whether in Children’s, bible studies, or hospitality. Having always possessed a deep love for kids, Kelly’s goal is to provide a place for children to feel welcomed, loved, and come face-to-face with the Creator of the world. Incredibly thoughtful and welcoming, Micah’s other-centered stance has blessed us immensely, whether in worship, preaching, looking out for others, and the direction of our church, he cares for, and is an integral part of our family.
Administration: Anna Bailey
Ambitious and attentive, Anna serves our church family in so many ways. Whether keeping us organized, running admin, rallying the young adults, evangelizing, leading worship, or looking out for the needy, Anna continues to strive in loving-service. Having also served as a missionary in Senegal for Mercy Ships international, and graduated summa cum laude from Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelors in Ministry, Anna’s desire is that our church would be a welcoming body where people feel connected and loved by Jesus. She is joined by her amazing husband, Ayden.
ELDER: JIM BROWN
Without Jim, Calvary Chapel would not be what it is. Servant hearted, humble, and always around, Jim is always behind the scenes, not only caretaking the building and property, but leading our prayer group, keeping tabs on our older saints, helping with admin, men’s breakfast, and so much more. Jim is always present, and always serving us.
How we practice
being Jesus followers
1.DAILY DEVOTION
We believe that spending a daily quiet time with Jesus in His word is imperative to hearing His loving Voice over the noise of the world and our hearts.
How can I be a part of this?
We have devotionals posted live on our Calvary Chapel Sequim Facebook page every Monday through Friday at 7:15AM (linked below)
We have a daily scripture reading plan that some of our church is following. Those groups meet together on a weekly basis and share together. If you’re interested in following the reading plan or getting into a group, talk to one of our pastors.
2.GOSPEL COMMUNITY
We believe that as followers of Jesus, He has gathered us together to belong in a new, heavenly family, and as His family, we are to love one another holistically, and to spend out our lives together. This requires deep commitment, consistency, forgiveness, and most of all, Love.
How can I be a part of this?
Come on Sunday to one of our services. If you like what you see, and would like to get plugged in further, approach one of our pastors or elders after the worship service.
3.POURING OUT
We believe that Jesus has moved us into the heart of our city of Sequim to proclaim the Gospel and to self-sacrificially serve and bless it. Whether through social justice, evangelism, or the arts, we strive to prayerfully act as our servant king.
How can I be a part of this?
